|Summer Stewards Program - Park and Trail Stewardship
Special Program • June through August
If you're interested in our Park and Trail Stewards Program but aren't able to participate for the entire park season, consider our Summer Stewards Program. As Summer Stewards, individuals, families, and members of community organizations support their favorite county parks during the summer by volunteering on a regular basis from mid-June to late August.
|Volunteer to help with our annual "Discover!" Nature Program
Special Event • May
Each year on the third Saturday of May, the MSU Extension Master Naturalist program and Kent County Parks sponsor a free discovery program for kids of all ages at Millennium Park. Individuals and families enjoy learning about the history and ecology of Millennium Park while walking the Hansen Nature Trail and stopping at hosted nature stations. Help support this fun and free event by assisting with set up, greeting attendees, supporting the nature station docents or taking photos. To learn more about this event, visit www.facebook.com/DiscoverParksEvent, then contact Volunteer Services to see how you can get involved!
Calling all photographers! If you're interested in taking photos of parks, natural areas, trails, park shelters or volunteer events, contact our Volunteer Services Coordinator to discuss how your photos might help us promote Kent County Parks!
Volunteers have helped build bog bridges, decking, playgrounds, birdhouses, bat houses, duck houses, trail marker posts and more! Eagle Scouts have contributed their time and talents for many of these building projects. To discuss a special building project idea, contact our Volunteer Services Coordinator.
We need event support for volunteer fairs, wellness shows and volunteer projects and programs throughout the park season. Meet and greet the public, help us promote Kent County Parks or help extend the impact our volunteer programs!
|Project Team Leadership
Do you enjoy leading a team? We can use your help! We need project leaders to help coordinate and supervise projects, including volunteer orientations, registration, tool and supply distribution, project direction, etc. Training is provided! Great opportunity for experienced volunteers, college students, and environmental enthusiasts!
|And More Projects...!
We have special project requests from our Park Managers throughout the season. These potential projects are posted or emailed to volunteers whose contact information is in our KCP Volunteer Services database. You are also invited to submit a special project idea that will benefit either the recreational or the environmental attributes of a specific County Park! Project submissions will be reviewed by KCP staff and, if approved, KCP staff will work with volunteers to plan the project.
