Trails

Thanks to a generous contribution from The Meijer Foundation, Millennium Park offers an extensive network of trails totaling about 18 miles in length, all within the boundaries of park’s 1,400 acres. Most of the trails are paved although the system also offers several natural-surfaced trails for a more rustic experience.

The Fred Meijer Millennium Trail Network connects with Kent Trails and with a City of Grand Rapids trail along Wealthy Street SW, establishing easy access to Millennium Park from southwest communities. A trailhead with seasonal restrooms at the north tip of the park provides a perfect launching point for trail enthusiasts. The trail network also connects with the park’s main recreation area, where the Sandy Hansen Shoreline Trail follows an enjoyable route around the perimeter of the lakes in the park’s main recreation area.

Most trails at Millennium Park are open to foot traffic, bikes, roller blades and other human-powered devices. Motorized traffic and horses are not allowed on the trails, except for maintenance and patrols by park staff.
