Seasonal Stewards

The Seasonal Steward program provides an opportunity for community members to volunteer on a seasonal basis at a favorite park. Stewards work on a flexible schedule and self-managed basis. A program can be developed to fit your availability and interests!

We developed our “Steward” program for park neighbors, regular park visitors or organization staff/students/members who would like to help out on a seasonal basis and on a flexible schedule. Stewards commit to a favorite park site or a section of trail on a self-managed basis. Tools, supplies and any required training are provided by KCP Volunteer Services staff.

Here are some examples of Park and Trail Steward opportunities:

  • Help monitor trails while you hike or bike along Kent Trails, the M-6 Trail or a park trail.
  • Learn how to identify and remove invasive species at a favorite park to protect native species and natural habitats.
  • Get the whole family involved in the Steward Program by checking for trash or damages while spending time enjoying your favorite park.
  • Students can receive community service credit for volunteer hours by contributing their time as a Park or Trail Steward. Student groups can commit to a regular stewardship project type that supports a specific County Park.
  • Business groups or community organizations can sign up to help protect their favorite park by scheduling regular volunteer projects through the Park and Trail Steward Program. Recognition signs can be posted on specific Stewardship trail sections based on service.

Stewards are asked to provide signed Waiver and Release forms, submit monthly service hours and inform our Volunteer Coordinator of any issues or concerns regarding their park or trail site.
