Projects, Programs & Events

Through the year, we have a wide variety of opportunities for becoming involved as a Kent County Parks volunteer. We hope you’ll explore the different categories below and find something that sounds just right for you or your group!

You can also sign up to be notified of new volunteer projects and events.

Park & Trail Clean Up

Park and trail clean ups may include trash pick-up, planting/landscaping, weeding, raking, brush trimming along trails, mulching around playgrounds, painting, staining, branch pick up from green spaces and trails, lake and stream cleans, or special projects.

Invasive Species Control

Assist in habitat preservation by removing invasive species that threaten native environments. Volunteers will learn how to identify these invasive species and can make a significant impact by properly removing them from natural areas.

Habitat Restoration

Projects may include removing invasive species, planting native species, making Native Plant Species seed balls, restoring or monitoring a butterfly habitat area, and more! These opportunities are great for individuals, families and groups of all ages.

Trail Building

Help create a legacy by building trails at a Kent County Park! Trail building may include tagging, bench cutting, raking, trimming, lopping and landscaping. Bench cutting can be physically demanding, but there are multiple tasks to choose from, and trail building is a lot of fun!

Special Projects & Programs

We have special project requests from our Park Managers throughout the season. These potential projects are posted or emailed to volunteers whose contact information is in our KCP Volunteer Services database.

Golf Services Program

Golf volunteer activities may include greeting customers, sweeping starter areas, helping to keep the golf course neat and clean, assisting with golf carts, helping maintain the clubhouse, picking up golf balls and range baskets from the range, and performing various other duties around the course.
