“April showers bring May flowers”, and rain with warmer weather also brings Garlic Mustard – an invasive species that’s toxic for native Michigan plant species. At this event, volunteers will help remove garlic mustard from habitats throughout Luton Park. There will be a short workshop on how to ID and remove this invasive species. Volunteers of all ages are invited! Other habitat support projects including green spaces and trail clean are available. Registration is required. For questions or registrations, email park.volunteers@kentcountymi.gov
NOTE: Projects are not canceled for light rain, but they may be delayed or canceled for heavy rain or weather advisories. Please dress for the weather and pack personal items such as water bottles, insect repellent, etc. We strongly recommend wearing long pants and work shoes or boots to all events. All tools and supplies, including light work gloves, will be provided on site. Waiver forms will be available on site, or groups/organizations may submit a waiver prior to the event date. Any child under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or designated organization leader for the duration of the event. Although leashed pets are welcome at most parks, pets (except for service animals) are not permitted at volunteer events due to safety concerns.
