The Kent County Parks Department made the decision to continue taking reservations this year despite the uncertainty about what types of events would and would not be allowed due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. Though you may have made a reservation for a shelter or picnic area, this does not necessarily guarantee that we will be able to host your event. The limitations and capacities for indoor and outdoor events are determined by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and are completely beyond our control. The guidelines are changed frequently, and restrictions are based on current case numbers and positive test percentages. The Kent County Parks Department has no foreknowledge about how or when restrictions will change. If you have reserved a shelter building for an event with 100 people, and guidelines limit indoor events to 25 people, as they currently do, we would have to move your event to an outdoor location or cancel the event. In the event we have to cancel your reservation due to government imposed restrictions, you will receive a full refund. This determination will be made at least one week prior to your reservation. If you decide to cancel your event due to Covid related concerns prior to this determination, you will receive a full refund minus 10%.
